A person who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males both between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative added: "This year his family member had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative said the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.
She stated Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five children.
